Come and watch a free film and then stay and chat about the issues it raises! This month’s film is based on the true story of a young man’s determination, against all odds, and in the face of ridicule, snobbery and potential financial ruin, to take part in the Olympic Games. A hugely moving story of the triumph of an underdog. All welcome!
We are closed this bank holiday this Monday 29th August, back open at 11am on Tuesday 30th August!
Join us at Nexus Art Cafe in Manchester for a special night of documentary shorts from inside the Calais refugee camp.
‘Jungle Films’ showcases the work of filmmakers from across Europe who share a common aim to tell Calais’ stories using cinema.
Their films explore the facets of daily life inside the camp and the contentious issues that surround its continued existence. Screened together, they offer a vivid and consummate vision of the situation in Calais, and a viewing experience that is in equal parts revealing, moving and uplfiting.
– Entry by donation
– Doors from 6:30pm
– Screening begins at 7pm
Stick around after the screening for drinks, interesting discussion and opportunity to meet the filmmakers!
